EPIC Strengthens Strategic Partnership With Bibby: Smart-Trac System for Second ‘Walk to Work’ SOV
EPIC has been trusted to provide the POB, mustering and evacuation system for Bibby Marine Services next generation WaveMaster Horizon, due Q3 2019.
This second vessel in the fleet builds on successful design for the deployment and retention of offshore support and maintenance engineers in the renewables environment. The vessel enables offshore wind operators to work more efficiently, more safely and in maximum comfort, for periods of up to 30 days at a time. EPIC’s approach fits perfectly with Bibby’s, “Work Safe Live Safe” ethos, tracking personnel over multiple sites to support well routed work flow and the crucial resolution of “who’s missing?” in an emergency.
EPIC also supplied its Smart-Trac system for Bibby’s WaveMaster 1, commissioned in April 2019. A highly successful contract in the Dutch North Sea sets the scene for new vessels in the future.
Douglas Traquair, Operations Director of EPIC, said, “We are incredibly proud to support Bibby with both WaveMaster 1 and their latest SOV, WaveMaster Horizon. Our whole ethos is to provide our clients and their personnel with a tracking system which they can rely on to manage personnel during regular operations and emergency situations.”
Stephen Bolton, CEO of Bibby Marine Services said, “Bibby Marine Services’ goal is to provide a step change solution to the Walk to Work vessel market. Highest on the list of step changes is safety. We therefore carried out a critical review of our existing and planned vessel systems in conjunction with some of our clients and this led to the selection of EPIC and their Smart-Trac System being installed on both our vessels. Working with EPIC and the Smart-Trac System has had an immediate and real impact driving an enhanced safety culture via increased accuracy of information which is readily at hand not to mention highly efficient mustering. A secondary benefit has been the more effective pre-planning / activity Client communications.”
