Further Helicopter Safety Checks After Fatal Norway Crash

Further safety checks have been ordered on a fleet of Super Puma helicopters after a fatal crash off Norway last year.

The European Aviation Safety Agency has asked operators of 225 and L2 aircraft to carry out one-off gearbox inspections.

13 people, including Iain Stuart of Lawrencekirk, were killed in the crash last April.

An interim report suggested gearbox failure was the most likely cause – the 225s continue to be grounded in the UK.
