North Sea Catcher Area Wells Producing ‘Above Expectations’

Development drilling is drawing to a close at Premier Oil’s Catcher area project in the UK central North Sea.

Earlier this month the Burgman field production wells came onstream, so all three area fields (Catcher, Varadero, and Burgman) are now delivering hydrocarbons.

Initial dynamic data indicates good pressure support and connectivity within the reservoirs, while delivery capacity of the available wells has been high with combined production capacity well above the FPSO’s plant design.

To date, five produced oil cargoes have been offloaded and sold to four different buyers.

Premier added that overall results have exceeded its pre-drill estimates with the latest Catcher development well encountering more oil-bearing sands than originally expected, and better reservoir quality.

Elsewhere in this sector, the company is considering converting an obsolete production well into a water injector to improve recovery from the Huntington field.

In addition, it is in talks with Teekay on extending the lease of the circular Sevan-designed FPSO beyond April 2019.

Premier anticipates sanction for its Tolmount gas project in the southern North Sea later this year, followed by first gas in 4Q 2020.

This summer the company plans to acquire high-resolution 3D seismic over the Greater Tolmount Area in advance of drilling the Tolmount East appraisal well in 2019.
